Shillong, April 15: Police have recovered a missing .303 rifle from the premises of Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL) in Sohra and arrested three youths in connection with the case.
The incident was reported on April 11 when Home Guards personnel deployed at the MCCL factory noticed that a .303 rifle was missing from the storeroom of the administrative building. An FIR was promptly lodged at Sohra Police Station, leading to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following an investigation, police detained two suspects—Shaiborlang Jyrwa (21) of Marai Thymmai and Sawbor Sooting (20) of Mawkisyiem—for questioning. During interrogation, both allegedly confessed to stealing the rifle from the factory premises.
Acting on their statements, police searched a house in Mawkisyiem belonging to Alpha Mary Jyrwa, the grandmother of one of the accused. The missing rifle, bearing number 3709740, was recovered and seized in the presence of independent witnesses.

A third accused, Teilang Sohkhia (19) of Marai Thymmai, was later apprehended.
All three have been arrested and will be produced in court on Wednesday. Further investigation is ongoing.
