Gangtok, January 7: Nongkseh Sports Social and Cultural Club (SS&CC) opened their calendar year with a 2–1 victory over Gangtok Himalayan Sports Club in the 11th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup International Football Tournament at Jorethang on Wednesday.
Playing their first-ever match away from home, the champions of Shillong delivered a composed performance to maintain their unbeaten run across all competitions since 2025.

Nongkseh dominated possession in the opening half and took the lead in the 10th minute through Shano Tariang, who finished clinically after a well-timed assist from Khrawkupar Jana. The advantage was doubled just before halftime when Kynsaibor Lhuid produced a fine solo effort from the left flank in first-half stoppage time.
The second half saw Nongkseh continue to control the game but fall short in converting further chances. Gangtok Himalayan Sports Club scored a late consolation goal, but Nongkseh remained disciplined to secure the win at the final whistle.

Nongkseh SS&CC were led on the field by captain Hardy Cliff Nongbri, with Rogestar Basiawmoit guiding the side as head coach. Club president Daniel M. Thangkiew accompanied the team in the role of manager during the tournament.
Nongkseh SS&CC will face Eastern Railway (Kolkata) in the pre-quarterfinals on Sunday, January 11.
