Magisterial inquiry initiated after retaining wall of PA Sangma stadium collapses

Tura, June 22: A Magisterial enquiry has been instituted after a retaining wall of the newly built Purno Sangma Stadium in Tura, West Garo Hills collapsed on Thursday morning following heavy rainfall in the state in the last couple of days.

Jagdish Chelani, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of the district, while talking about the incident to North East Media Hub said that it was too early to make any statement in this regard.
Talking about the lapses into the matter or lapses in the construction senario, construction material or the contractor.

Chelani also said that an assistant commissioner to look into the entire matter of the judgement.

He also said that only after the enquiry is concluded the report will be submited to the government, action will be taken accordingly.

Talking about the priority, he said the first and foremost important work at this point was to remove the debris from the collapse spot.

He also expressed his happiness that no loss to life or damage to property has been reported.

On further plans, he said to re-construct the retaining wall in much more smarter manner and which is conducive to heavy downpour or heavy downpour.
