Shillong, Jan 25: Lumparing claimed the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s Football League 2025 with a 3-1 victory in the final against Laitkor at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here yesterday.

Pynhun Shulet (18′, 25′, 60′) produced a hat-trick to give Lumparing their first title in this tournament, while Tracy Rympei (22′) scored for Laitkor, who were unable to defend their crown from 2024.

Laitkor have now finished as runners-up in three seasons of the Women’s Football League – making them by far the most consistent side even if they have been a little unlucky in the title deciders. By contrast, this was Lumparing’s first final.

Pynhun headed in a corner in the 18th minute but Tracy pulled Laitkor level with a sensational long-range effort from the right just four minutes later.

Parity did not last long, however, as Pynhun beat the Laitkor goalkeeper to score from close range after nipping in and taking the ball away from a defender.

The score remained 2-1 going into the break but there was more to come in the second half. Pynhun was fouled in the box and then miscued the resulting penalty but she was to make no mistake two minutes later with her hat-trick goal.

Although Laitkor fought hard all the way to the final whistle, it seemed unlikely that they would get past Lumparing goalkeeper Priyanka Latam.

With the final whistle Lumparing were able to celebrate their maiden Women’s League title, which was thoroughly deserved after they performed brilliantly throughout the season. As champions they received Rs 50,000 in prize money. Laitkor took home Rs 25,000 as runners-up.
