SHILLONG, APR 22: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home and PWD (Roads & Buildings) Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday directed the central public works department (CPWD) and border security force (BSF) to issue No Objection Certificates (NOC) for construction of PMGSY-III roads along the international border with Bangladesh.

After chairing a joint meeting with the BSF and CPWD officials, Tynsong said one of the stretches is in the Ranikor area where the road is under CPWD and BSF.

“The sanction has been accorded for reconstruction of roads but we need no objection certificate from both CPWD as well as BSF,” he told reporters.

The deputy chief minister said another issue was flagged in Garo Hills where certain road stretches lie outside the border fencing.

“There are stretches which go outside the fencing, not inside the fencing. Again those portions which are outside the fencing, the BSF feels that we need to do the realignment of the road and bring it inside the fencing because that side if we go outside our counterpart from Bangladesh they are protesting and they don’t allow us to construct roads or any infrastructure.”

Tynsong said the issue was discussed today and instruction has been given to both the CPWD and BSF to issue the necessary NOC so that work can start immediately.

“I told them you please give us the NOC so that we can start the work as the road has already been included in the PMGSY-III. We have taken a decision and they (CPWD and BSF) will also take it up with the higher authority then ultimately they will issue us NOC for construction of the roads,” he added.
