Tura, April 18: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday felicitated achievers of the SSLC Examination 2026 from the Garo Hills region at a programme held at his residence in Tura, lauding their academic excellence and urging them to remain grounded and resilient in life.

The event was organised to recognise outstanding performances in this year’s SSLC examinations, with the Chief Minister congratulating the toppers for their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. He said their achievements bring pride not only to their families but to the entire region and the State.

Addressing students, Sangma encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and stay focused on their goals. Emphasising the role of education in shaping Meghalaya’s future, he urged them to contribute meaningfully to society through their knowledge and skills.

Highlighting the importance of a strong support system, he acknowledged the role of parents, teachers, and educational institutions in guiding students towards success. “It is about supporting children when they need it the most. While education and course material are important, shaping children in the right direction is key to building the future of the State and the country,” he said.

Drawing a parallel between the inclement weather during the programme and life’s challenges, the Chief Minister remarked, “Challenges will always arise. What matters is to accept them, work towards overcoming them, never give up, and remain positive.”

Underscoring the significance of values and character, he added that success without humility holds little meaning.
“Nothing will matter—no success will matter—if you cannot be a good human being. Be humble, stay grounded, and never forget your roots,” he said, cautioning against arrogance and stressing the importance of respect and moral values.

The toppers were presented with certificates and tokens of appreciation during the programme.

The event was attended by parents, teachers, and well-wishers, who praised the students’ achievements and appreciated the State Government’s continued focus on education and youth development.
