SSA school takeover and pay structure for 14,000 teachers in final stage: CM

Shillong, Oct 13: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has annonced that the process of taking over SSA schools and implementation of pay structure for over 14,000 SSA teachers is in its final stage.

This was informed by the president Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) Aristotle C Rymbai after meeting Sangma on Monday.

“The meeting was very positive. The chief minister has informed the association that the paper works regarding the pending issues of the SSA teachers pertaining to the taking over of SSA schools…and regarding the implementation of pay structure for SSA teachers are in the final stages,” Rymbai told reporters.

He informed that a follow-up meeting is scheduled for Thursday, where the chief minister, education minister Lahkmen Rymbui, and officials from the education department will discuss the matters further.

“On Thursday (October 16), there will be a meeting to be chaired by the chief minister…everything will be placed in the meeting,” Rymbai said while adding that the association has decided to waiting for the outcome of the meeting.

Notably, over 3,332 SSA schools in Meghalaya have submitted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to hand over their management to the state government, out of a total of 5,131 SSA schools in the state. Out of this, there are 298 religious and private managed SSA schools.
