Imphal, Sept 12: Manipur chief secretary Puneet Kumar Goel on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit will pave the way for peace, normalcy, and growth in the state.

Goel highlighted that Manipur, as a gateway to Southeast Asia under India’s Act East Policy, holds a crucial role in national security and diversity. “Peace is not only the absence of violence but also the presence of trust, harmony, and reconciliation. The Prime Minister’s visit will strengthen this path towards stability,” he told reporters.

The Prime Minister will arrive in Churachandpur on September 13, where he will first interact with internally displaced persons (IDPs) at 12:15 pm before laying the foundation stone for key infrastructural projects. Later, at Kangla in Imphal, Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth over ₹8,500 crore — including ₹7,300 crore in new initiatives and ₹1,200 crore in completed works. He will also address a public gathering at Kangla.

“These initiatives underscore the Prime Minister’s commitment to the welfare of Manipur,” Goel said, urging people from across the state to participate and welcome Modi during the visit.
