Shillong, April 21: Over 2000 out of 3000 SSA schools run by community have given their no-objection certificate (NOC) for handing over their management to the state’s education department.

This was informed by the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association president, Aristotle C. Rymbai, after a meeting chaired by the commissioner & secretary in-charge education, Vijay Kumar Mantri, with DSEOs, SDSEOs and three teachers’ associations that include All Meghalaya SSA School Teachers’ Association (AMSSASTA) and Meghalaya Fourth Teachers’ Association (MFTA).

“Today commissioner & secretary shared us the data pertaining to the collection of NOC from the community schools on their willingness to handover the management from SSA to education department. Out of 3000 plus community schools across the state, they have received willingness of 2000 plus community schools,” Rymbai told reporters.

“23 private schools from East Khasi Hills have also submitted their willingness to handover the management from SSA to the education department,” he added.

Rymbai informed that the meeting also discussed in details and in length regarding the non uniformity for issuing of the notification to the SMCs pertaining to obtaining their willingness for handing over the management from SSA to the education department.

“After a brief discussion, we have taken a unanimous decision that they will issue again to all SMCs which have not submitted their willingness with a clear clarification pertaining to this initiative taken by the education department to ask for willingness of handing over the management to the department,” he said.

Further, Rymbai also informed that the meeting also discussed regarding the rationalization of teachers SSA and government.

“Since November last year, we have raised this issue with the education department and it is almost six months now so today after detailed deliberation we have taken a decision that by end of May, the entire process for rationalisation of teachers should be completed,” he said.

“We have decided that this rationalisation will be done in three categories,” he added.
