Shillong, Feb 20: Paiem Ainam Manik Syiem was elected as the Syiem of Hima Mylliem on Monday after the election conducted the Elaka department of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
In the Syiem Election, there were five candidates who filed their nominations. Out of 41 electorates, 10 were absent. All the 31 voted in favour of Paiem Ainam Manik Syiem.
The Returning Officer, C Pohlong, informed that after electing the new Syiem the election report will be tabled in the coming session of the KHADC and he will be given with the Confirmation Certificate (Sanad) by the Council.
The other candidates included- Samran Sing Syiem, Pynshailang Syiem, Banteilang Syiem and Mansan Manik Syiem.
