Shillong, Nov 14: East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Sylvester Nongtnger and Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem informed that a total of 5 people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence that took place last month in Shillong.

An unemployment rally was carried out by Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) wherein few of the masked protestors went on rampage to attack passersby and commuters.

Syiem said they have been getting the full cooperation of the Organisation and that investigation is going on.

He added that there has been progress in the interrogation of the case and all notices have been served to the leaders of the FKJGP and have appeared in the concerned Police Station(s) for questioning.

Meanwhile, FKJGP president Dundee Khongsit was summoned for questioning at Sadar Police Station on Monday morning.

Following his questioning, Khongsit said the government should not provoke or push them too much against the wall. “If the government continues to push us, we will be compelled to confront the government,” warned Khongsit.
