Vishal struck first, Anand second, Akash delivered final blow
Shillong, June 17: The second machete (dao) used in the murder of Indore businessman (L) Raja Raghuvanshi was recovered from Weisawdong falls – from where his highly decomposed was recovered from a deep gorge – during the reconstruction of the crime scene on Tuesday.
Sonam Raghuvanshi along with the three friends of her lover Raj Singh Kushwaha – Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi – involved in the murder of her husband were taken to Sohra for recreation of the crime scene during the seventh day of police custody.
Addressing media persons, East Khasi Hills district police chief Vivek Syiem said, “This whole reconstruction of the murder, the offence has been replayed today. We have got a clear picture and we have recorded in videography and we have got independent witness to cover it and the whole reconstruction was very successful.”
He said the special investigation team (SIT) had conducted the reconstruction of the crime scene in five places starting from Mawlakhiat village to Weisawdong parking lot.
“This reconstruction has been based on the interrogation we have been conducted over the last few days (where) the accused persons have admitted to the offence,” he added.
Replaying the crime, the SP said, “We start off from Mawlakhiat parking lot where they have kept the scooties then we have moved on to a place which 3-4 kms from Weisawdong parking lot, where they had stop to take photographs and there was an attempt in that place but it was not feasible as Raja started of his bike and so they had to move on. They had stopped 200 meters away from Weisawdong parking lot, there only photographs were taken but attempt was not made in that point.”
“We finally came to Weisawdong parking lot, we ascertain where the scooties were kept and the position of the scooties vis-a-vis the parking lots and where they had actually made an ingress into the viewpoint. After that we had gone to the viewpoint and we have ascertained where Raja was standing,” Syiem said adding “To replay the whole thing, we had taken one of our personnel from Fire and Emergency services to replay the role of Raja. We have ascertain what was the position just before the murder, who was standing where and how the blow took place. Three blows took place – first blow was by Vishal alias Vicky, second blow was by Anand and the last blow was by Akash.”
The SP informed that the second machete was also recovered from Weisawdong. This came to light during the interrogation of the accused persons, which were sent to 8 days police custody.
“They have replayed of how they have thrown the two daos. The first dao which was thrown has been recovered, it has an orange handle. The second machete has got a steel handle,” he said while saying that the SDRF team had to use a metal detector to recover the second murder weapon.
Further, Syiem said SIT has also ascertain how Akash’s white shirt, which was recovered with Raja’s body on June 2, after he has shown how he has thrown the shirt.
“We have also ascertain as to what happened to the mobile of Raja, which was first damaged by Sonam and later by Vishal. So this whole thing has been played out and how they made their exit from this place,” he added further.
Meanwhile, the SP had maintained that the police are committed to chargesheet the case in record time.
