Shillong, July 3: Power Minister AT Mondal has stated that the Kulsi Multipurpose Project in Assam will be executed with the confidence of all stakeholders.

Speaking to media persons, Mondal said that the project was discussed between the Chief Ministers of Meghalaya and Assam as a ‘friendship project’.

Mondal said that the Chief Minister of Meghalaya has assured that all stakeholders will be taken into confidence before proceeding with the project.

The minister admitted that power projects often face challenges due to submergence areas, land acquisition, and other issues and said, “So what CM has told is that everybody will be taken into confidence that whatever the objections are there. If the government can address concerns and convince people, they are likely to agree.”

Mondal however said that the project is still in a preliminary stage, and no concrete decisions have been made regarding its execution.
