Shillong, April 19: The 2024 Lok Sabha elections witnessed an innovative initiative of ” green election”. As a part of the program two saplings were handed to the polling station for the Green Election. The first male and female voters got the saplings and they planted them in the polling stations.
The state Election also witnessed minimal usages of plastic in the booths, efforts were taken to keep booths plastic free.
The Chief Election Officer expressed his happiness over the successful implementation of the green initiative.
The booths witnessed large numbers of voters in queue to cast their vote. There was active participation by citizens to keep the democratic spirit alive.
