KHADC reconstitutesits Khasi Traditional Medicine Commission

Shillong, Dec 20: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Wednesday approved the re-constituted the Khasi Traditional Medicine Commission.

According to the report of the executive committee tabled by chief executive member Pyniaid Sing Syiem on the first day of the council’s winter session, the commission was reconstituted as per the KHAD (Protection and Promotion of Khasi Traditional Medicine) Act, 2011.

The 12-member commission will be headed by the KHADC chief as chairman and joint secretary to the executive committee A Nonghuloo as secretary.

The members of the commission include four eminent Khasi Traditional Practitioners – Dr DL Nongspung, Dr Alka Kharsati, Dr Boss Myrthong and Dr Dlas Rani, two eminent practioners of other system of medicine – Dr JP Lyngdh and Dr Sparstarlin Nongrem and four eminent members of civil society – Dr PS Nianglang, Dr Fabian Lyngdoh, Kitboklang Nongphlang and RS Wanniang.
