KHADC Election | 4 sitting MDCs retain seats, 3 MLAs elected, 4-ex MDCs return

Shillong, Feb 24: Out of the 19 sitting Members of District Council (MDCs) who contested the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) elections, only four have managed to retain their seats, while the remaining 15 including key leaders, faced defeat.
Notably, Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pyniaid Sing Syiem, Deputy CEM PN Syiem and KHADC Chairman Lamphrang Blah were among those who lost.
Sitting MDCs Who Retained Their Seats:
1.Grace Mary Kharpuri (NPP) – Nongshken (Won for the fourth consecutive term, defeating VPP’s Mabhalang Thabah by 3,313 votes)
2.Alvin K. Sawkmie (NPP) – Mawsynram (Defeated VPP’s Ruseivan Shangpliang by 5,035 votes)
3.Titosstarwell Chyne (UDP) – Sohra (Defeated VPP’s John W. Thabah by 863 votes)
4.Pius Marwein (UDP) – Ranikor (Defeated NPP’s Mandilost Nongbri by 2,899 votes)
Former MDCs Who Made a Comeback:
Additionally, four former MDCs who were not part of the outgoing term have made a return:
1.Rona Khymdeit (NPP) – Nongpoh
2.Ricky Shullai (IND) – Laban-Mawprem
3.Srally Rashir (HSPDP) – Mawshynrut
4.Equator L. Nongrang (UDP) – Mairang
Three Sitting MLAs Also Elected as MDCs:
Three current MLAs have secured victories in the MDC elections, meaning they will now hold dual positions:
1.Sosthenes Sohtun (NPP) – Jirang
2.Synshar Kupar Lyngdoh (UDP) – Sohiong
3.Pius Marwein (UDP) – Ranikor (Langrin)
