Shillong, Sept 15: Hid Foundation Shillong extremely saddened by the passing of great Leader Former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Dr. D.D. Lapang.
Maheh Dr. D.D. Lapang was a true leader of the people whose commitment to public service spanned decades.
Serving as Chief Minister five times, 2 times as Deputy Chief Minister, 10 times as Cabinet Minister and 2 times as Leader of Opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly and many other responsibilities in the Government of Meghalaya.
He greatly dedicated his life to the welfare and growths of Meghalaya from young student leader and the day one of Hills State Movement along with many other Leaders of Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo hills and also his big contributions to promote a rural education in the State.
His role in creation of Ri-Bhoi District in 1992 remains unforgettable and people proudly called him as Founding Father of Ri-Bhoi.
A statesman with a big heart and strong commitment to serve the people with dignity and his legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the path he paved for Meghalaya’s future ahead.
Dr. D.D. Lapang who always was a great mentor to us in many ways and giving his guidance in our journey as a Hid Foundation for last thirteen years.
His demise is a great lose to us and the people of State as whole.
At this time of grief and sadness, we join the people of Meghalaya in offering our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and to all his followers. May his departed soul rest in peace!
