Imphal, May 25: There has been a renewed spurt of violence, arson and vandalism involving suspected militants and organised mobs in Manipur.

A 29-year-old man was shot dead by members of a different community, while two others were injured in a separate incident in Bishnupur district on Wednesday.

PWD minister Govindas Konthoujam’s house was also ransacked in Bishnupur district.

In order to bring back order, the government has once again clamped indefinite curfew in Bishnupur, the epicentre of the recent ethnic clashes, and the curfew-relaxation window in Imphal West has been shortened by another four hours.

Meanwhile, a delegation of state BJP MLAs will travel to Guwahati to meet Union home minister Amit Shah during his visit to the city on Thursday.

In addition, an Imphal East court has remanded former MLA T Thangzalam Haokip and three others, including his son, to judicial custody till June 6 in a case linked to violence and intimidation of traders in the New Checkon area.
