DGP and Chief Secretary to closely monitor Law and Order situation in Shillong

Shillong, April 11: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed on Thursday that the police are actively pursuing the culprits behind the incident that led to the death of a house construction laborer in Mawlai Mawroh on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, CM Conrad condemned the attack and stated that the investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits so they can be duly punished by the law.

The CM mentioned that he has been in contact with the victim’s family members to express his condolences and assured them that the government will take this incident very seriously and the culprits will be apprehended.

Additionally, the CM informed that the DGP and the Chief Secretary have been summoned for a meeting. Furthermore, the CM has instructed both the DGP and Chief Secretary to maintain strict vigilance on the law and order situation in Shillong and other areas.

To ensure close monitoring of the law and order situation, the CM stated that security forces will be deployed, and if necessary, additional security forces will be called in, added the Chief Minister.

It may be mentioned that a house laborer from Nongmynsong was assaulted to death by unknown miscreants in Mawlai Mawroh, Shillong.

According to East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi, the incident took place around 11:15 am on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Arjun Ray (52), succumbed to injuries at NEIGRIHMS.
