Agartala, Sep 18: In a significant operation conducted based on confidential information, police officers from the College Tilla outpost apprehended several female drug dealers and confiscated a substantial quantity of cannabis, according to a senior police official.

“Under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Shyamal Debnath, four women were taken into custody, and 22 kilograms of cannabis were seized from Jogendranagar railway station,” said Inspector Rana Chaterjee, who serves as the officer-in-charge of the East Agartala police station.

Inspector Chaterjee further disclosed that the police had registered an NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case against all the apprehended women.

During initial interrogations, they revealed that they hail from Bihar.

Authorities estimated the confiscated cannabis to have a value of approximately two lakh rupees.

An ongoing investigation aims to determine the cannabis’s origin, those involved in the trafficking network, and their intended destination.

It has come to light that the women were in the process of transporting the cannabis from Agartala to Bihar.
