Shillong, Nov 21: Two youth from Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh aim to travel the whole country by walking to create awareness on unnecessary fuel consumption with the motto “Burn calories not fuel”.

Aditya Sharma who hails from Uttar Pradesh and his friend Saurav Devangan from Chhatisgarh started their journey on October 7, 2021. They have covered 8 states and reached the State of Meghalaya on Monday. The duo will be travelling to other parts of the North East in the coming days.

“We had started our journey from Raipur, Chhatisgarh on October 7 last year and we are travelling the country by walking. Our goals is to cover 28 states during our journey,” said Aditya Sharma.

“Our motto is ‘Burn calories not fuel’ and this is for the youth of the country. Today’s youth do not want to walk. Even for a short distance, they use motorcycles or scooty. We appeal to the youth to walk to cover the short distances. This will keep them healthy. Further, the traffic problems will also be reduced and fuel will be saved and it will be helpful for our next generation,” Aditya explained.

Talking about sustenance during their journey, Saurav said, “We live on whatever people offer us on the street, we avoid eating junk foods but eat food that will give us energy. We do this just with the support of our family, since we do it for a good cause, they along with our friends support us.”

“When we started our journey, we were in doubt whether we would be able to complete our journey or not. But now we are confident that we will do it and people are supporting us on our journey,” added Saurav.
