SHILLONG, AUG 25: Health and Family Welfare Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Tuesday said 50 students have been admitted in the first academic year of Shillong Government Medical College.
In a reply to a question by Leader of Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma in the Assembly, Shylla said infrastructure for the college is as per NMC MSR 2023 norms, with details tabled in the House.
He said the government has sanctioned 179 posts for the medical college — including one each of Director, Dean, Medical Superintendent, Chief Administrative Officer, Clinical Psychologist, Statistician and Chief Accounts Officer-cum-Financial Advisor.
Of the teaching posts, 17 are for Professors, 27 for Associate Professors, 41 for Assistant Professors, 40 Senior Residents, 22 Junior Residents and 25 Tutors/Demonstrators.
The college started functioning from the academic year 2025-26.
