No-drone zone declared around State Convention Centre for NEC plenary

SHILLONG, JUN 4: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, has declared a No-Drone Zone within a 3-kilometre radius of the State Convention Centre, Shillong, from June 3 to June 5.

The order was issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

The restrictions have been imposed in view of the 73rd Plenary of the North Eastern Council meeting being held at the State Convention Centre from June 3.

“Many VVIPs and dignitaries will be attending the said meeting,” the order stated.

“The order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain in force for a period w.e.f. 3rd to 5th of June, 2026,” the District Magistrate said.

The directive prohibits the operation of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles in the designated area during the three-day period.

Security has been stepped up around the venue for the high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
