SHILLONG, MAY 05: “Success should not be limited to government employment,” Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said on Tuesday while addressing the golden jubilee celebration of Nongsder SSA LP School, urging students to focus on skill development from an early age.

Speaking at the programme marking 50 years of the school, Rymbui paid tribute to the founders and early contributors who laid the foundation of the institution.

He described the presence of the school’s first teacher as “a significant and emotional moment for the school community.”

The Minister stressed the importance of skill development and referred to the government’s Community Skills Integrated Learning initiative.

He urged students, “especially those from rural backgrounds, to take advantage of such programmes and other schemes introduced to empower youth.”

He also called upon parents to play an active role in guiding their children by encouraging them to learn practical skills and values from everyday life.
