SHILLONG, MAR 3: The Joint Coordination Committee on Reservation Policy (JCCRP) has outrightly rejected the report of the Expert Committee on the State Reservation Policy and pressed for a three‑way split of Meghalaya’s 80% job quota among Khasi, Jaiñtia and Garo communities.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the JCCRP said a meeting held on Monday brought together all affiliated organizations along with prominent intellectuals and representatives from the Jaiñtia Hills region, resolving to seek justice and the rightful share for the people of Jaiñtia Hills, grounded firmly in the provisions of the Constitution of India.”

The group argued that quota design must reflect the three Autonomous District Councils — JHADC, KHADC and GHADC.

“Any policy framework concerning reservation must be structured in accordance with the constitutional recognition” of these councils, it said.

The JCCRP also urged the MDA government to carry out a Socio‑Economic Survey in all three ADCs, saying future decisions should be “data‑driven, fair, and reflective of ground realities.”
