SHILLONG, DEC 19: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma assured that the report of the expert committee on the state reservation policy, weighing around 200 kg and spanning 4,000-5,000 pages, will be made public soon.
Responding to opposition VPP president Ardent Basaiawmoit’s decision to stage a protest if the report is not made public, Sangma said: “It will be made public as I said it is a huge, it is 200 kgs of report, that is like 4000-5000 pages and one has to go through every single word as even a comma can change the meaning of the report or the meaning of that line.”
He explained the enormity of the task, stating officials had to thoroughly examine every page.
“The chief secretary and the other officials had to go through every line, every page and it is a very big task… they are going to submit it and they are going to show it to the cabinet and of course as soon as they are giving it to us we will be made it public as there is no question of not making it public.”
Sangma emphasized the report’s importance to the people, adding: “We will definitely make it public but… being a sensitive matter, the officials cannot simply ignore even a single page or even a single word.”
