Shillong, Aug 26: A 17-year-old schoolgirl was robbed of ₹300 at knife-point by unidentified miscreants near the Aprilia showroom at Lumiawblot, Nongthymmai on Monday afternoon.
Police said the victim, Shellyza Dkhar, a student of Auxilium School, Nongthymmai, was returning from school when the incident occurred at around 2:33 pm. According to the FIR filed by her mother, Iarilang Dkhar, the miscreants, aided by three accomplices, forcibly searched the girl’s school bag and pockets before taking the cash.
The victim was rushed to Civil Hospital, Shillong, for a medical examination and released after receiving first aid. Police have registered a case, visited the site, and are examining CCTV footage from the area to trace the culprits.
In a separate incident, Wansawlang Lyngdoh lodged a complaint on Monday stating that the rear tyre of his vehicle was stolen on August 22 at around 3:45 am. He also reported that similar thefts had occurred with vehicles belonging to his neighbors at the same parking lot.
A case has been registered, and police said necessary procedures have been carried out.
