Dr APJ Abdul Kalam fondly remembered in Shillong with seminar, awards & poetry

Shillong, July 27: The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Foundation of Meghalaya observed the 10th remembrance day of the Missileman, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, with a seminar, poet’s meet, and award ceremony at the U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong on Sunday.

Commissioner and Secretary BDR Tiwari graced the function as the chief guest accompanied by Munish Singh, Director of Art and Culture, NE Zone, as the guest of honor.

The event featured an opening song by the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Foundation members, followed by the lighting of the lamp, welcome address by Falguni Chakraborty, State President, and patriotic songs.

A book titled “My Encounter with the Missile Man of India” written by Dr AM Kharbamon was released during the program.

Students from various schools in Shillong participated in the seminar, showcasing their knowledge and admiration for Dr. Kalam’s life and contributions.

The Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Awards were presented to -Padmashree Silbi Passah, Dr Adorable Kharbamon, Kalpana Roy and Manisha Sharma

A scholarship of Rs. 2000 was awarded to meritorious students, along with prizes for the winners of the Art, Model, Craft, Quiz, and Essay competitions held last month.

Renowned poets from Shillong participated in the poet’s meet, paying tribute to Dr Kalam’s legacy and contributions.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, honoring the life and achievements of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
