Shillong, May 16: Three new examination centres have been set up in Shillong for the smooth conduct of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2025.
The new centres which have been onboarded in Shillong are: St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School – 70 computer nodes, Shillong College – 100 computer nodes and Shillong ITI – 29 computer nodes.
Informing about the development on Friday, Commissioner & Secretary incharge education Vijay Kumar Mantri said, “The State Government has been in constant coordination with the National Testing Agency (NTA) to increase the number of examination centres for this computer-based test. NTA has been responsive to the situation and is working closely with the State to ensure smooth implementation.”
According to him, these additional centres have allowed for the reallocation of students who were previously assigned to distant examination venues.
According to the latest information received from NTA, a total of 11,309 candidates are scheduled to appear for the exam starting May 19. Of these, only 1,376 candidates are assigned to centres in Guwahati; the remaining candidates are now scheduled at centres within Meghalaya.
“In summary, no student from Meghalaya is now required to travel beyond Guwahati for the CUET (UG) exam. All candidates have been accommodated at centres in Shillong, Tura, or Guwahati, starting from 19th May onwards. The change of centre has already been communicated to the candidates by NTA either through email or message or both,” Mantri said.
The State Government remains firmly committed to ensuring that every student from Meghalaya has a fair and accessible opportunity to appear for national-level examinations like CUET. Close coordination with NTA is ongoing to ensure a smooth and successful examination process, he added.
