One killed, two injured as two scooties collided at Malki

Shillong, June 11: A tragic accident claimed the life of one person and injured two others, including a female tourist from Kolkata, in a head-on collision between two scooters in the city on Monday night.

According to information received, the incident occurred near Kitchen Express, Malki Point, around 10:30 pm. The scooters involved in the accident had registration numbers ML05 AA 8256 and ML05 Y 1286.

The identity of the deceased male has not been confirmed at the time of this report. He was declared dead upon arrival at Shillong Civil Hospital. The other injured individual, who was riding as a pillion passenger with the deceased, has been identified as Bishal Mondal, 20, from the Demseiñiong locality.

Eyewitnesses reported that the deceased was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The tourist from Kolkata, Lisa Pradhan (34) sustained minor injuries while husband, Devendra Nayak (37) miraculously escaped without injuries. The couple was visiting Shillong for holidays.
