SHILLONG, MAY 17: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Friday demanded the state government to disclose the marks secured by candidates to the public eye before the walk-in-interview for recruitment of staff nurse on contractual basis.
In a letter to the Director of Health Services (DHS), chairman of KSU – Employment Monitoring Cell, Reuben Najiar said that the Union expressed its concerns over various allegations made by the candidates who have applied for the post of Staff Nurse based on the advertisement dated 06.03.2024 bearing No. HSM/NS/18/2023/79315 published by the office of DHS, Shillong.
He said that based on the advertisement, various parameters have been given by the Office to select the candidates for the interview based on merits, but there are numerous allegations made by the candidates whose names are not in the list for interview.
The list is fraudulent in nature and there is every possibility that the list of candidates has been prepared under the undue influence of people in power having various designations within the Government and the Office, he asserted.
Furthermore, he informed that there are numerous accusations that candidates who have been selected for the interview does not fulfil the required parameters set by the office and candidates who were left out does fulfil all the parameters set by the Office.
“Thus, in order to have transparency over the list of selected candidates for the interview and to avoid any claims of nepotism, the Union strongly urged that the marks of all the candidates who have applied for the post must be published in order to clear all the doubts of the candidates over the recruitment process and to avoid any discrepancies in the selection process. The Union humbly urged that the marks secured by all the candidates are to be made public before the walk-in-interview commences,” Najiar said
The Union also seek clarification if there is a possibility that candidates who have been selected for the said contractual post can be made permanent in future.
“If there is a possibility of such post being made permanent, the Union humbly urge that such practices must be halted and proper recruitment process must be established for selecting the candidate which should be based on examinations and other parameters such as work experience must be kept for consideration,” he further added.
