Vehicle catches fire near Umroi Airport Junction

Nongpoh, May 11: Authorities have reported a vehicle fire incident at Umroi airport junction around 12 noon.

The vehicle, which was transporting passengers from Mawblang village, Ri-Bhoi District to a retreat center in Umroi Nongrah, caught fire on its return journey.

The driver, Mr. Tyngshain Maring (26), tried to start the engine near NH-44 when the vehicle suddenly ignited. Despite efforts by fire emergency services, the vehicle was completely destroyed.

Unfortunately, no casualties were reported. The burned vehicle has been towed to Umroi Police Investigation Center for further examination.
