Voices from the hills reach the plains of Delhi to demand recognition for Khasi Language

Shillong, Sept 30: The demand for the inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of Constitution of India once again reverberated in the air of national capital New Delhi as all sections of society, in unison, cried out for their voices to be heard by the Union Government.

The peaceful sit-in protest was attended by Cabinet Ministers Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Paul Lyngdoh, MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Adviser to the Chief Minister and former Minister Hamletson Dohling, and former PHE Minister Samlin Malngiang, former Meghalaya Legislature Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh and UDP members were also part of the protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Saturday. Along with them, the members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) were also present.

The Members of the Khasi Author’s Society (KAS) were also part of the protest.
