Imphal, June 28: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wis scheduled to visit the violence-hit Manipur on Thursday-Friday (June 29 and 30).

During his visit, Rahul will be visiting the relief camps and interact with the civil society representatives in Imphal and Churachandpur, according to Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal’s tweet.

He further said, “Manipur has been burning for nearly two months, and desperately needs a healing touch so that the society can move from conflict to peace. This is a humanitarian tragedy and it is our responsibility to be a force of love, not hate.”

Manipur has been hit by violence since May 3 due to the clashes between the Meitei community and the Kuki tribe.

So far, the violence has claimed more than 110 lives, and displacement of several thousands of people.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “silence” on the situation in Manipur.

He had earlier tweeted, “An all-party meeting is called when the Prime Minister is not in the country. It is clear..this meeting is not important for the Prime Minister.”

The all-party meeting was chaired by Union home minister Amit Shah, in the absence of Prime Minister on June 24.
