Shillong, June 26: In a major boost for civil service aspirants, the Meghalaya government has invited applications for its free residential UPSC coaching programme for the 2026-27 batch, offering 60 fully sponsored seats to eligible candidates from the state.

The programme, to be conducted through the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute’s Administrative Services and Public Examination Training Centre (MATI-AISPETC), is aimed at preparing selected candidates for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, one of the country’s toughest competitive tests.
The year-long residential programme will provide free coaching, accommodation and meals at the MATI campus in Mawdiangdiang, Shillong. Classes will be conducted in English.
The 60 seats are reserved for permanent residents of Meghalaya who are eligible to appear for the UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2027.
Admission will be through a merit-based entrance test patterned on the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination. The institute said details of the examination would be announced separately.
To be eligible, applicants must be above 21 years of age and possess a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 per cent aggregate marks. Candidates who have previously undergone coaching at MATI are not eligible to apply.

The last date for submission of applications is June 30, 2026, and interested candidates can apply online through the official registration link or by scanning the QR code provided in the advertisement.
The initiative is part of the state’s efforts to nurture talent and make quality civil services coaching accessible to deserving candidates by easing the financial burden associated with UPSC preparation.
