Tripura CM inspects border area in Unakoti, interact with local villagers

Agartala, Aug 06: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha paid a visit to the Chandipur-Srirampur border area in Unakoti District and interacted with the villagers.

During interaction, the villagers informed the Chief Minister that a portion of the barbed wire fencing of India-Bangladesh international boundary got damaged due to erosion of the river and following which they were facing problems.

The Chief Minister assured the villagers that the issue would be taken up with the Central Government.

Local residents alleged that smuggling of contraband items, illegal infiltration and cattle theft got increased due to the damaged portion of the wire fencing.

During the visit, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das, Unakoti District Magistrate, Unakoti District Superintendent of Police, BSF officials, and Gram Pradhan and held a detailed discussion with the locals to understand the problems they are facing.
