Shillong to host 7th Act East business show, 12 countries to participate

Shillong, March 17: Representatives of 12 countries will participate apart from investors from different parts of the country in the 7th Act East Business Show in Shillong to look for collaborations and investments.

The flagship event, organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Meghalaya government from March 25-27, aims to strengthen economic and trade relations between BBIN and ASEAN nations, with a focus on key sectors such as technology, agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism.

The inaugural session on March 25 will be addressed by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, alongside senior officials from the Government of India and high-ranking diplomats. This session will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss investment opportunities in Meghalaya. A dedicated exhibition will also showcase potential investment avenues and business synergies, positioning the state as an attractive destination for investors.

Meghalaya is emerging as a premier investment destination backed by progressive policies, infrastructure development, and a business-friendly governance framework. The state is committed to fostering entrepreneurship, facilitating seamless investments, and strengthening regional and international trade partnerships. With a strong emphasis on sustainable growth, innovation, and economic diversification, Meghalaya is poised to become a strategic gateway for trade and investment in the region.

Diplomats from countries including the Philippines, Germany, Indonesia, Cambodia, the UAE, Japan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal have confirmed their participation, along with business delegates from their respective nations. The Indian business community will also engage as prospective investors.

The event will focus on three sessions i.e. Empowering Growth Through Technology & Innovation In Meghalaya, Making North East India Export Hub of Agriculture, Livestock, Food Processing and Manufacturing and North East India Travel, Tourism & Hospitality.

Across three days, the business show will host B2B and B2G meetings, matchmaking sessions, and networking opportunities, benefiting businesses, exporters, startups, and Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Companies (FPCs) in Meghalaya.

The event will conclude with the Valedictory Session: Meghalaya – Future Roadmap, which will outline strategies for sustainable economic growth and regional cooperation.
