Seven students injured after School Bus collision in Byrnihat

Shillong, Feb 19: Seven students were injured and around 20 others sustained minor injuries after a school bus collided with a truck while transporting children on Thursday at around 8 AM.

According to reports, the school bus bearing registration number ML 10 D 5047, belonging to Mount Zion Secondary School, 15 Mile, Byrnihat, was en route to pick up students from 17 Mile when it was hit by a truck carrying clinker with registration number NL 01 AA 4672. The truck reportedly rammed into the bus while maneuvering to unload its cargo.

At the time of the accident, approximately 20 students were on the bus. Seven of them sustained serious injuries and were immediately transported to Guwahati for further treatment, while the others with minor injuries were taken to Byrnihat PHC.

The Byrnihat Police Outpost has reached the site to investigate the incident.
