SHILLONG, AUG 31: Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Monday congratulated footballer Sanfida Nongrum on being named Women’s Young Player of the Year at the Football Players’ Association of India (FPAI) Awards.
In a post on X, Shylla termed it a proud and inspiring achievement for the state.

Noting that Sanfida has become the first woman from Meghalaya to receive the honour, the minister said it is a testament to her talent, dedication and perseverance.
“Becoming the first woman from Meghalaya to receive this prestigious honour is a remarkable milestone and a testament to her talent, dedication and perseverance. Her achievement is not only a matter of personal pride but also an inspiration to countless young girls and aspiring athletes across our state,” he said.
Shylla wished her greater success ahead.
“May Sanfida continue to reach greater heights and inspire the next generation of Meghalaya’s sporting talent,” he added.
