Pressure groups of Ri-Bhoi apprehend 25 non-tribals on way to West Khasi Hills

Nongpoh, Nov 6: The members of the HANM, HYC and UHM, Ri Bhoi District, apprehended over 25 non-tribals who were proceeding to Nongstoin without any legal documentations. These non-tribals were apprehended at around 5 PM on Sunday at Umran Diary, Ri Bhoi District.


According to the information received, the pressure groups received information that one traveller bus, AS 25 BC 6247, was ferrying over 25 non-tribals from Assam to Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills for the construction of one pandal for a programme for the Chief Minister.

Pateng Myrsing, HANM president, informed that the members after receiving the information laid the trap at one petrol pump near Umran Diary in Ri Bhoi District and managed to detain the bus and also apprehended the 25 non-tribals. After enquiry these non-tribals were found not possessing any valid documents, he said.

He also informed that these non-tribal were being hired by one contractor identified as Halim Sheikh from Assam, adding that these non-tribal were handed over to the Umsning Police Outpost for investigation and, accordingly, they were sent back to their native places.
