Prayer for peace held at at Garo Hills Catholic Schools for Manipur, emphasizes the importance of harmony and unity

Tura, June 23: A prayer for peace was conducted on Friday at Garo Hills Catholic Schools, sending a remarkable display of unity. The peace assembly was held in solidarity with the people of Manipur, who have been enduring a prolonged period of violence, and aimed to pray for an immediate end to the unrest and the restoration of peace in the region.

All Catholic institutions from all the five districts of Garo Hills actively participated in this Peace Assembly, which was held within the school premises.

The primary objective of this peace assembly was conducted to raise awareness among students about the grave situation in Manipur and the urgent need to halt the violence and senseless attacks on precious lives and property, including places of worship.

During the prayer assembly, students were enlightened about ongoing situation in the state of Manipur and the significance of working towards peace, reconciliation, and fraternity. The students also expressed their support for peace through the use of placards, which emphasized the importance of harmony and unity.

The remarkable aspect of this prayer assembly was that it embraced individuals from all faiths and denominations. The event also showcased a beautiful amalgamation of religious diversity, where readings from sacred scriptures were recited, prayers were offered from various faiths and denominations. Also, renowned songs by figures such as St. Francis Assisi and Rabindranath Tagore were sung. The resonating words of “Lord make me an instrument of peace” and “Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake” left a lasting impact on the attendees.

The Peace Assembly and Rally was held in the Garo Hills Catholic Schools showcased the power of unity and compassion.
