The latest arrests were made late Thursday night from Diara South Salmara in Assam. The accused have been identified as Mozahidur Momin (22) and Mofidur Hussain (22).

Their arrest was confirmed by the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills.

Dilseng Sangma, a member of the pressure group ACHIK, was killed on January 9 at around 2 pm while inspecting allegedly illegal stone quarrying units in the Rajabala area of West Garo Hills district. The incident occurred at Goalgoan, where Sangma was reportedly assaulted by unidentified persons.

However, when asked about the quarry owner linked to the case, the SP stated that the individual remains absconding and efforts are underway to trace and arrest him.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and further arrests have not been ruled out as they continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also vow strict action against those involved in the death of an ACHIK member in Goalgoan under Rajabala Police Station in West Garo Hills district, assuring that all perpetrators will be brought to justice.
