Shillong, Jan 15: The state government on Wednesday decided to amend the Meghalaya State Anthem by including Pnar language in the lyrics.

Announcing this decision after chairing a cabinet meeting, chief minister Conrad K Sangma said, “I am happy to announce that the cabinet has today decided to amend the Meghalaya State Anthem and we are happy to include few lines in Pnar in the State Anthem.”

“This will be unveiled in the Meghalaya Games, which will be held in Wahiajer in Jaintia Hills and we will be playing it on that day,” he added.

The CM informed that the decision was based on some of the suggestions from representatives from Jaintia Hills particularly the deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar and the public at large.
