Shillong, July 1: In a move aimed at tightening security and streamlining visitor data, the Tourism Department of Meghalaya has announced that all accommodation providers in the state including hotels, guesthouses, homestays, lodges, inns and bed-and-breakfast establishments must now register through a mandatory online platform.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Tourism, the registration process involves daily digital reporting of guest check-ins and check-outs. This includes critical details such as the number of visitors, their gender, place of origin (state or country), and identity verification (ID proof, visa details, and C-form uploads for foreign nationals).

In addition, all accommodation providers are now required to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from both the District Administration and District Police before operating, citing security concerns as the reason behind this directive.

To assist providers, the government has set up an online portal: https://app.meghalayatourism.in/provider. Mobile apps are also available via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. A detailed user manual can be accessed here.

The department has urged all operators to register immediately and fully comply with the new regulations to avoid any legal or operational issues.
