Shillong, Sept 9: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong has directed the state police to take strict action against individuals, who misuse symbol of authority without proper authorization.

“We have given the instruction to the police headquarters as well as the SPs to go all out to see people, who illegally use, be it black tinted glasses or be it the siren or be it anything which is not as per the prescribed regulation as per the government,” Tynsong told reporters on Tuesday.

His statement came following the recent arrest of people for impersonating as law enforcement personnel and seizure of airguns from their posession.

Regarding claims that one of the accused might contest an election, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed skepticism, stating that he doesn’t believe the statement and is unaware of any such source.

“I don’t know from where you get that source. I was also trying to ask my colleague politicians whether you are close to this man or not but nobody knows at all. Therefore, don’t just come to a conclusion with that statement made by anybody I don’t know. What I am trying to tell you no matter what whether you are close with A or B or C or D who is in power but you have to go as per the prescribed norms as per the prescribed rules,” he stated.
