SHILLONG, Feb 3: The Meghalaya High Court has deferred the case related to the relocation of 342 families of Harijan colony from Them Iew Mawlong.

The petition filed by the Harijan Panchayat Committee against the state government’s constituted High-Level Committee was heard by the bench headed by Justice B Bhattacharjee on Monday.

The court adjourned the matter for four weeks, citing a connected case pending before the Division Bench.

“The learned counsels appearing for the parties submit that the connected matter pending before the Division Bench is yet to be disposed of. In view of the submission, list this matter after 4 (four) weeks,” the bench said in its order.

On January 29, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar had informed that the government will convene a meeting with the Harijan Panchayat Committee after the upcoming Assembly budget session to discuss the relocation of 342 families from the Harijan Colony at Them Iew Mawlong.
