SHILLONG, APR 1: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on said Wednesday that the state government is taking up concerns over the singing of Vande Mataram at official functions with the Centre, even as he clarified that the practice follows a standing order issued by the Government of India.

“In fact this was an issue that has come up in the past. We have also discussed this but it is a standing order that has come from the government of India and it is an order that says whenever the Governor is present it will be played but it is being implemented throughout the country,” Sangma told reporters.
