Shillong, March 23: A heavy hailstorm, accompanied by rainfall swept across several areas in Shillong and other villages in East Khasi Hills, turning vast areas white and bringing a sudden drop in temperature.
The storm lasted for over an hour in most places, with some areas witnessing hailstones as large as marbles. Villages like Mawreng, Laitpynter, Marbisu, and Kreit were particularly affected, with roads and fields covered in thick layers of ice.
Mawlai also bore the brunt of the storm, especially in Mawiong, Mawtawar and Umrynjah, where heavy hail made roads and playgrounds dangerously slippery, forcing vehicles to move with caution.
