Shillong, Oct 4: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that he is distressed to know about 23 missing Army personnel following the cloudburst and flash flood situation in Sikim.

He also said that he is praying for the safety and well-being of the residents.

Taking to X, CM Conrad wrote, “Distressed to learn about the 23 missing Army personnel who have been reported missing following the cloud burst and flash flood in Sikkim. Praying for their safety and the well-being of the residents.”

The Sikkim cloudburst and flash flood have caused significant damage to infrastructure and disrupted normal life in the affected areas. The state government is working closely with the Indian Army and other rescue teams to locate and rescue the missing personnel while also providing necessary support to the affected residents.

Residents in some of the areas have been asked to move to higher-altitude areas to ensure their safety. The heavy rainfall has also led to damage to properties, roads, and several other establishments, further exacerbating the situation.

Efforts are being made to restore communication and transportation links in the affected regions to facilitate relief operations.
