Shillong, May 16: A couple was arrested along with heroin at Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills district on Tuesday morning.

During the search of the bus one lady, Lhingneivah Singson (35) was found to be one of the passengers along with her husband Lalroho Hmar (38).
Further, after observing all formalities under NDPS Act and in the presence of independent witnesses, a body search was conducted and 6 soap cases were found concealed in her body, each soap case containing a transparent plastic with yellowish orange powder, East Jaintia Hills SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said.
Preliminary test was conducted on the suspected contraband and the test gave positive results for heroin and the total weight was found to be 65.92 grams, he said.
Cash amount of Rs 5,000 and one Nokia phone was also seized from their possession.
A case has been registered with the Khliehriat police station and investigation is on to trace the backward and forward linkages.
